I remember being counselled by an elder who was later disfellowshipped - for prior paedophilia.

2008
by jefferywhat ini have noticed, and posted a little bit about all the buzz surrounding this year.
there is a little bit of a whisper campaign going around that armageddon is coming this year.
from other posts i notice im not the only one who is seeing this, there is alot of "reminders" that we need to be obedient and trusting of the fds ( which i am of course), along with reminders to stock up and prepare for disasters etc they are really pointing to something.

Yes, I mentioned this on a thread a few weeks back. I heard that it was a topic for discussion at Gilead last year. In the version I heard, the year is 2009 - 33.5 years from the autumn of 1975 which makes it spring 2009. I can't believe people are speculating like that - did they learn nothing from '75?!
Jeffrey, you said a while back that P.O's will be gotten rid of soon. Heard any more on that?

There's a new JW only WT? WTF?
by berylblue inso what are they trying to hide now from the "worldlings"????.
can someone tell me what the differences between editions are?.
-

They aren't trying to "hide" anything and in that sense I don't believe there's anything sinister about it. Basically the new WT contains study articles plus extra articles which are a little deeper than the public would handle. It also has tighter mind control, having read the first few issues there is no doubt in my mind about that.
You can see examples on the WT website. Primarily I suspect it was done to reduce the amount of magazines they are having to print, along with the fact that the public editions are only produced once a month.

From Rutherford -2008 Watchtower ="dont have kid's till after Armagedon!"
by Witness 007 inyes i thought rutherford's policy on kid's was dead and the society had wised up....until i read the new "witnesses only" watchtower study magazine...compare.. rutherford's last book "children" 1942 = p.281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years before the other sheep are gathered to the lord, until armagedon...those with infants during armagedon will have greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation.".
watchtower 2008 april 15 p.19 {picture of a middle aged couple witnessing with question: why do some christian couples decide not to have children?
} paragraph 12 "single or childless for a noble purpose.....numerous couples have decided to remain childless....they often do so to remain freer to serve jehovah...they are willing to place kingdom interests above some of the privileges that go with marriage...jehovah will not forget their work, and the love they show for his name...there will be a great tribulation...doubtless, it will be a difficult time for all of us-adults and children alike.".

I guess I'm not a very good JW then....
Incidentally, my husband (who has no idea I'm turning apostate!!) commented last night that the new JW only WT is far stricter/authoritarian and reads different to the old one. People have to be noticing this stuff.

Could some be genetically prone to be religions?
by JH inat our hall, so many entire families were jw's.
an elder told me that all the other members of his family were of another religion.. this made me wonder if some families could be genetically prone to be religious?.

Best Field Service "Presentation": Direct Approach. (I'm serious!)
by Open mind inif you're a less-than-zealous jw still in for family, what do you do if/when you actually get roped into knocking on a door?.
now what many probably do, and i've done quite a bit, is the good old: "hi we're here with the latest wt, would you like to read it?
i have abandoned this presentation for a couple of reasons.. 1. every now & then someone will actually feel sorry for us and accept the mag.

I just pause a lot and hope they throw in a conversation stopper.
At that point I consider the conversation...errr...stopped!
